O’Brien does it again for Pats

Declan O’Brien worked the oracle again for St. Pat’s to give them a slim lead to cling onto ahead of their Europa League, third qualifying round, second leg trip to Russia next week.

Having scored in both their games in the previous round against Valletta, on loan striker O’Brien came up trumps again with 20 minutes to play when rifling a shot past visiting keeper Eduardo Lobos.

Sovetov had much the better of the first half, but Saints defended well and came more into it after the break.

Jeff Kenna’s side now face a long journey to the city of Samara, some 500 miles east of Moscow for next Thursday's second leg.
