Rams deny bid for Commons
Derby insist there has been “no formal bid” from Celtic for Scotland winger Kris Commons.
Hoops boss Tony Mowbray has made no secret of his admiration for Commons, and it had been reported the Glasgow giants had made a £3.5m offer for the 25-year-old.
However, a Derby spokesman said: “There has been no formal bid, but we are aware of interest from a number of clubs.”
Commons joined the Rams on a free transfer from east midlands rivals Nottingham Forest last summer and scored seven goals in his first season at Pride Park, most notably in a 1-0 home win over Manchester United in the Carling Cup semi-final first leg in January.
Commons was born in Mansfield but is able to represent Scotland through his grandparents.
