Bohs get eight past hapless Mayfield

Jason Byrne and Glen Crowe both scored twice as hapless Cork minnows Mayfield finished with ten men at Dalymount Park.

The match was one to quickly forget for Mayfield defender Stephen Hurley who gifted Bohs the lead from an eighth minute own goal and was then sent off just before half-time for striking Bohs' skipper Owen Heary.

In-between, Anto Murphy, on 23 minutes, and Byrne on 25 and 42 minutes, ended the game as a contest as Bohs trooped off at the break 4-0 up.

Crowe added a fifth ten minutes into the second half with Neale Fenn scoring a rare headed goal on 66 minutes as the scores kept coming.

Anthony Wolfe shot home a 77th minute penalty for Mayfield’s consolation.

Crowe then got his second on 82 minutes before winger Graham Carey completed the rout with Bohs’ eighth goal a minute from time.
