Jeff Kenna’s St Patrick’s Athletic face a difficult FAI Ford Cup opener as they travel to Jackman Park to take on Limerick, kick-off 7.45pm.

Darragh Ryan (hamstring), Gareth O’Connor (thigh strain), Alan Cawley (ankle), Gints Freimans (knee), Gary Dempsey (leg), Mark Leech (leg) are all injured for St Pat’s.

Stuart Byrne returns from suspension and Mark Quigley returns from injury having missed the Bohemians game.

Kenna said: “We had a great win on Friday and you’re always looking to build on a good performance like that and put a good run together.

“The cup is high on our priorities this year but every year brings cup upsets and we’ll need to approach the game with Limerick with caution.

“Limerick are going well in the first division, they’re at home and should have a good crowd behind them, so we will be treating them with the respect they deserve.”
