Sunderland to play Amsterdam tournament

Sunderland are to take part in the Amsterdam tournament in July.

The Wearsiders, who yesterday named Steve Bruce as their new manager, will line up alongside hosts Ajax, Atletico Madrid and Benfica.

Sunderland chairman Niall Quinn told www.safc.com: “This is a very prestigious tournament and it’s fantastic for the club to be involved.”

The event takes place between July 24 and July 26.
