Rovers without Doherty
Sligo Rovers will be without Sean Doherty when they go head-to-head with Dundalk at Oriel Park tonight, kick-off 7.45pm.
The former Accrington Stanley midfielder is struggling with a hamstring injury, and Mauro Almeida also misses out with an ankle injury.
Danny Ventre returns from suspension to bolster Paul Cook’s squad, although Raffaele Cretaro will not travel as he serves a one-game ban.
Dundalk will push clear of the relegation zone if they can beat Rovers and Sean Connor’s side are boosted by the return of top scorer Chris Turner, who served an automatic one-match ban last Friday.
Dundalk central defender and captain Thomas Heary is encouraged by his side’s effort and insists they must remain focussed on their own task.
He said: “There’s a great bunch of lads here and they’re really putting everything into it.
“It doesn’t matter what the teams around us do, it’s what we do that’s important, and we have to go out and perform (against Sligo).”
