Sunderland chairman Niall Quinn has denied reports that the Drumaville consortium lost money through its brief involvement in the club.

Sunderland chairman Niall Quinn has denied reports that the Drumaville consortium lost money through its brief involvement in the club.

The group, which consists of mainly Irish investors, bought the club in 2006, but has now sold its shareholding to US billionaire Ellis Short.

Media reports yesterday claimed the consortium lost a lot of money in the transaction.

However, Quinn insisted today that all the investors made "a respectable profit".
