Drogheda hold out for valuable win
Bray Wanderers 0 Drogheda United 1
Brian King gave Drogheda a deserved first win of the season as they frustrated Bray at the Carlisle Grounds tonight.
After a dreadful opening half hour, Drogheda thankfully brought the game to life by taking the lead - for what would prove the only goal - on 31 minutes.
Robbie Clarke and substitute Dave O’Connor worked the ball forward to James Duffy.
Though the striker’s shot was sliced, it ran kindly for King at the back post and he nonchalantly side-footed home.
Bray pressed in the second half, but Drogheda’s veteran keeper Steve Williams made fine stops from Jake Kelly and Dane Massey.
