Cardiff will officially open their new £50m (€56.5m) stadium on July 22 with a pre-season friendly against Celtic.

Construction on the 27,000-seater ground at Leckwith is set to be completed next month and the Bluebirds will play all home matches there from next term.

Celtic chief executive Peter Lawwell told Cardiff’s official website, www.cardiffcityfc.co.uk: “We are pleased to play our part in the opening of such a prestigious new venue.

“It will be a fantastic occasion for both sets of supporters.”

Celtic traditionally boast a large following for pre-season friendly matches.

The match will kick-off at 7.45pm.
