Rangers captain Barry Ferguson and goalkeeper Allan McGregor have both been dropped for the Clydesdale Bank Premier League game against Falkirk.

The pair were sent home after training on Friday following their actions during Scotland’s World Cup qualifier against Iceland on Wednesday.

David Weir will wear the captain’s armband in Ferguson’s absence, while Neil Alexander will replace McGregor between the sticks.

Kenny Miller also misses the trip to the Falkirk Stadium through injury and, with Kyle Lafferty still sidelined, Nacho Novo could be handed a starting role.

Madjid Bougherra, Kirk Broadfoot and Weir are all fit for Sunday’s game after recovering from injury.

Provisional squad: Alexander, Whittaker, Weir, Bougherra, Dailly, McCulloch, Papac, Davis, Mendes, Beasley, Naismith, Novo, Boyd, Smith, Edu, Fleck, Wilson, Broadfoot.
