Birmingham midfielder Damien Johnson will captain Northern Ireland when he wins his 50th cap in tomorrow’s World Cup qualifier against Poland.

Birmingham midfielder Damien Johnson will captain Northern Ireland when he wins his 50th cap in tomorrow’s World Cup qualifier against Poland.

Johnson, who made his debut 10 years ago, will take the armband from Aaron Hughes at Windsor Park.

Manager Nigel Worthington said: “I am delighted for Damien, as are all the players and staff, that he has reached his 50th cap.

“He will captain the team. Damien is more than happy to accept the honour.”
