Anelka out for three weeks

Chelsea striker Nicolas Anelka will miss France’s World Cup qualification double-header against Lithuania after being ruled out for around three weeks because of a toe injury.

Chelsea's fading title hopes have been dealt a blow by the news that striker Nicolas Anelka has been ruled out for around three weeks because of a toe injury.

He will now miss France’s World Cup qualification double-header against Lithuania.

Paris St Germain’s 25-year-old striker Guillaume Hoarau has been called up to replace him by Les Bleus coach Raymond Domenech for the matches on March 28 and April 1.

It is Hoarau’s first call-up the senior squad and is just reward for 15 goals for PSG in Ligue 1 this season.
