Alonso and Gerrard back for Reds

Liverpool will have Spain midfielder Xabi Alonso back in their side for tomorrow’s Champions League last-16 first leg away to Real Madrid.

Alonso missed Sunday’s Barclays Premier League draw with Manchester City due to a one-match suspension.

His midfield colleague Steven Gerrard travelled with the squad to the Spanish capital today, after being given the all-clear following a hamstring injury.

Liverpool are without Danish defender Daniel Agger, who has a back injury.
