Howe had taken temporary charge of the struggling Cherries following the departure of Jimmy Quinn on New Year’s Eve.

The 31-year-old now faces the tough task of keeping the club in Coca-Cola League Two after they began this season on minus 17 points – they currently sit second from bottom.
