Shearer fears for Magpies
Newcastle legend Alan Shearer admits he is “worried” about the club’s current plight.
The Magpies’ season of turmoil continued on Saturday as they were comprehensively beaten 3-0 at Blackburn.
Their misery was compounded by the sending off of Nicky Butt whilst team-mates Joey Barton and Jose Enrique were seen squabbling after one of the goals and had to be separated.
The result left Newcastle just two points above the Barclays Premier League relegation zone and came after a midweek FA Cup loss to Hull in which manager Joe Kinnear was sent to the stands.
Shearer told the BBC’s ’Match of the Day’ programme: “It’s very frustrating to see the goals they conceded, to see the players fighting amongst themselves. It’s not looking good.
“They are out of the cup, the manager gets sent off in midweek, Nicky Butt gets sent off, they concede three goals, players want to leave.
“It’s not a nice situation. I’m worried and I really don’t think I’m the only one. I think there are 52,000 people worried as well at the current situation.”
