Addison pens Derby deal
Derby midfielder Miles Addison has signed a new contract which will keep him at Pride Park until the summer of 2012.
Addison’s deal ran to 2011 but his appearances this season – the academy product has made 28 in all competitions – triggered negotiations and a year has been added.
The 20-year-old has been a revelation this season and has captained the side in the recent absence of Paul Connolly. Manager Nigel Clough believes Addison is the kind of player around whom Derby should build their team.
He told the club’s official website: “The likes of Miles and Paul Green, Giles Barnes, Lewin Nyatanga – they are all very good young players and they should be forming the foundation of Derby County for the next few years.
“Miles signing is great news for everybody at the club, as is seeing youngsters emerging through the academy and breaking into the first team.
“I think he showed what qualities he has against Manchester United last week. His closing down is as good as anything we have seen in the league. We have just got to improve the side of his game when he has the ball but he is a major influence in winning the ball back for us.”
