Spanish duo in line for 'Pool derby return

Xabi Alonso and Fernando Torres have declared themselves fit to start for Liverpool in the Barclays Premier League derby clash with Everton on Monday.

Xabi Alonso and Fernando Torres have declared themselves fit to start for Liverpool in the Barclays Premier League derby clash with Everton on Monday.

Midfielder Alonso (foot) missed last week’s match at Stoke, while striker Torres (hamstring) has made two recent appearances as substitute but is ready to play from the start.

Their fellow Spaniard Alvaro Arbeloa is also set to return after a hamstring problem, but centre-back Daniel Agger (calf) may miss the game.

Provisional squad: Reina, Carragher, Arbeloa, Agger, Hyypia, Skrtel, Aurelio, Alonso, Benayoun, Lucas, Mascherano, Gerrard, Babel, Keane, Kuyt, Torres, Riera, Ngog, El Zhar, Cavalieri.
