Cork City have been blocked from talking to former Northern Ireland boss Sammy McIlroy by his current club.

Cork City have been blocked from talking to former Northern Ireland boss Sammy McIlroy by his current club.

The Morecambe manager had been favourite to take over at Turners Cross, following the sacking of Alan Matthews last month.

The League Two side's chief executive Rod Taylor confirmed Cork had been in touch, but were denied permission to approach McIlroy.
