Fulham centre-back Brede Hangeland was suffering from flu and missed the Premier League clash against Tottenham at White Hart Lane.

It meant Chris Baird was drafted in for his first appearance in more than a month, while Bobby Zamora was recalled to cover for Zoltan Gera, who was out with a calf injury.

Spurs boss Harry Redknapp had Darren Bent back from a virus, so Roman Pavlyuchenko was dropped to the bench – but the rest of the starting XI was the same as the side that lost at Newcastle.

Among Redknapp’s substitutes were Jermaine Jenas, who was back from a calf problem, and Jonathan Woodgate after a back complaint.

Tottenham: Gomes, Corluka, Dawson, King, Assou-Ekotto, Lennon, Zokora, Huddlestone, Bentley, Modric, Bent.

Subs: Cesar, Bale, Jenas, Pavlyuchenko, Campbell, O’Hara, Woodgate.

Fulham: Schwarzer, Pantsil, Baird, Hughes, Konchesky, Dempsey, Murphy, Bullard, Davies, Johnson, Zamora.

Subs: Zuberbuhler, Nevland, Gray, Etuhu, Stoor, Andreasen, Kallio.

Referee: Peter Walton (Northamptonshire)
