Newcastle strike duo out

Newcastle boss Joe Kinnear will be without strikers Obafemi Martins and Shola Ameobi for the St Stephen's Day trip to Wigan.

The Nigeria international missed the 2-1 victory over Tottenham with a groin injury, which will also keep him out on Friday.

Ameobi suffered a hamstring injury against Spurs and will sit out at the JJB Stadium, although both he and Martins are rated at 50-50 for the home clash with Barclays Premier League leaders Liverpool on Sunday.

Joey Barton (knee), Alan Smith (foot) and Igancio Gonzalez (Achilles) are still out.
