Evra wary of Quito
Patrice Evra has warned his Manchester United team-mates they must treat tomorrow’s showdown with LDU Quito as if they it were a Champions League Final.
In one sense, the Club World Cup is bigger as it offers the winners the right to be called world number one. In reality, it will not present the same challenge as United are likely to get from Inter
Milan when Europe’s top club competition resumes in February.
But, having played against Ecuador for France not so long ago, Evra knows the South Americans have rich talent.
And, unless United’s focus is right, Quito could cause a major shock.
“Quito are a good team,” observed the former Monaco star, who will be playing his last game for three weeks after deciding to accept a four-match ban from the Football Association for his part in the post-match fracas at Stamford Bridge last season.
“The challenge in front of us is very exciting. But we need to concentrate and play this game exactly like the Champions League Final.”
