Sunderland will be without full-back George McCartney until the new year after he underwent surgery on both feet this week.

Sunderland will be without full-back George McCartney until the new year after he underwent surgery on both feet this week.

The 27-year-old Northern Ireland international, who has been out of action since November 1, has been given 10 days’ complete rest and will then return to see his specialist.
