No goals in frenetic first half at Fratton Park

Portsmouth and Blackburn both missed chances in a cut-and-thrust first half at Fratton Park.

No opportunity was better than Glen Little in only the fourth minute when he shot straight at Blackburn goalkeeper Paul Robinson with the goal gaping.

Blackburn also did their best to ruin some sharp approach play, however, with Stephen Warnock and Roque Santa Cruz both off target from good positions before a Brett Emerton corner was headed against his own post by Pompey’s Peter Crouch.

Then Crouch headed over at the other end just before the interval when Armand Traore provided a perfect cross.
