Striker Jermain Defoe and midfielder Niko Kranjcar are back in contention for places in the Portsmouth team at home to Blackburn on Sunday but skipper Sol Campbell (toe) is likely to miss out again.

Defoe (calf) and Kranjcar (ankle) have both returned to full training ahead of the Barclays Premier League match, after being given the all-clear over possible surgery fears.

David Nugent is also available and he may be needed as Kanu’s efforts in last night’s UEFA Cup match against AC Milan at Fratton Park left him with a groin injury, while midfielder Lassana Diarra (ankle) and winger John Utaka (hip) are still sidelined.

Team (from): James; Johnson, Kaboul, Distin, Belhadj, Little, Diop, Davis, Kranjcar, Crouch, Defoe, A Traore, Kanu, Pamarot, Hughes, Mvuemba, Nugent, Thomas, Hreidarsson, Ashdown.
