Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger recalled his senior players for the Premier League clash against Aston Villa and also had Emmanuel Adebayor on the bench following his ankle injury.

Among the youngsters who impressed in the Carling Cup during the week, Carlos Vela and Aaron Ramsey joined Adebayor as substitutes.

Villa had John Carew on the bench despite back and thigh problems, while Luke Young replaced Nicky Shorey and Stiliyan Petrov was in the starting XI for Nigel Reo-Coker.
