Scolari defends Drogba
Chelsea boss Luiz Felipe Scolari has pointed the finger at fans after Didier Drogba was charged with violent conduct by the FA for throwing a coin into the stands.
Drogba was clearly shown on television throwing something at Burnley fans after scoring in Wednesday nightâs Carling Cup tie â which Chelsea went on to lose in a penalty shoot-out.
He was yesterday charged by the FA while police are still investigating the incident. Drogba is expected to receive a three-match ban.
However, Scolari has defended his striker by pinning responsibility on those fans who first threw objects on to the pitch.
âDidier went on the pitch to play football,â Scolari said. âHe didnât go out there with coins in his pockets. It wasnât Didier who started it.
âHe was happy to have scored a goal and he wasnât starting anything. He hadnât gone out there to fight but to play. The police, the FA, have to think about this.
âDidier apologised after the game but now I want the police to find out who was the man who threw that [coin]. After this weâll look at what happens. Iâm not a judge.â
