Sunderland defender George McCartney is a doubt for tomorrow’s Barclays Premier League clash with Portsmouth.

Sunderland defender George McCartney is a doubt for tomorrow’s Barclays Premier League clash with Portsmouth.

The full-back suffered a foot injury in last weekend’s 5-0 defeat at Chelsea, although manager Roy Keane is hopeful he will make the game at the Stadium of Light.

Goalkeeper Craig Gordon is still struggling with an ankle problem, so Marton Fulop is likely to continue, while striker Michael Chopra has returned to Cardiff on loan.

Provisional squad: Gordon, Fulop, Colgan, Bardsley, Chimbonda, Ferdinand, Nosworthy, Collins, McCartney, Malbranque, Whitehead, Tainio, Leadbitter, Miller, Yorke, Richardson, Reid, Diouf, Jones, Cisse, Murphy, Healy, Waghorn.
