Tevez keen to stay at United: Agent

Carlos Tevez has no intention of leaving Manchester United in January, his long-term advisor Kia Joorabchian says.

Carlos Tevez has no intention of leaving Manchester United in January, his long-term advisor Kia Joorabchian says.

The Argentina forward is on a two-year loan at Old Trafford which expires next summer.

Both United and Tevez have stated their desire to turn the contract into a permanent one but doubts about the player’s long-term future have begun to surface recently.

Tevez has been squeezed out of Alex Ferguson’s starting line-up since the £30.75m arrival of Dimitar Berbatov and was again on the bench for Saturday’s 1-1 draw at Everton.

However, while the 24-year-old is understandably frustrated at his lack of action, Joorabchian has insisted that does not mean he wants to leave.

“Carlos Tevez is not going to be sold in January,” he said “He plans to stay until the end of the season and talk to Manchester United then.

“He has a great relationship with Manchester United. There have been absolutely no conversations with other clubs and there won’t be.”

Privately, Tevez is confident of regaining his place in Ferguson’s side, while United would hardly be willing to pay in excess of £30m to acquire his services if he was not going to be an integral part of their plans for the future.

The striker is a firm crowd favourite among the Red Devils faithful, leaving Joorabchian calm about the future.

“Manchester United have assured us they intend to sign Carlos at the end of the season,” he said.

“We are looking at next year, then we will start to move the situation forward. Carlos is happy with his position at the club. He is a Manchester United player for the foreseeable future.

“He is just concerned, for reasons he does not understand, some people appear to be mischief-making.

“Carlos has a great relationship with Sir Alex Ferguson and (chief executive) David Gill and he hopes that continues.”
