Jay O'Shea and Vinny Faherty scored a brace apiece as Galway's survival hopes received a massive lift with their biggest win of the season.

Jeff Kenna's side are now just two points behidin fourth bottom Finn Harps - whom then meet at home in the second last match - with a game in hand.

O'Shea held his nerve from the spot for the third week running to give Galway the lead on nine minutes. Derek Pender pulled down Seamus Conneely and O'Shea, capped at under-21 level for Ireland earlier in the week, drove home his penalty.

O'Shea scored his second from John Russell's pass on 73 minutes.

Faherty added a third goal from an acute angle six minutes later before delightfully chipping Alan Gough for his second in the final minute.
