Espanyol defender Steve Finnan has been ruled out for around three weeks after suffering a hamstring injury in Wednesday’s Primera Liga defeat to Sevilla.

Espanyol defender Steve Finnan has been ruled out for around three weeks after suffering a hamstring injury in Wednesday’s Primera Liga defeat to Sevilla.

The deadline-day signing from Liverpool was making his first start for his new club, but lasted just 32 minutes before being carried off on a stretcher.

The 32-year-old Republic of Ireland international underwent tests today and, after receiving the results of those, is now set to be missing for the upcoming matches against Barcelona, Real Madrid and possibly Villarreal.
