Jesper Jorgensen earned Galway a point with a late equaliser to lift them off the foot of the table tonight - for 24 hours at least.

The sides shared chances in a lively first half with Jay O'Shea coming close for Galway before Rovers responded through Sean O'Connor.

John Lester, running Galway's midfield, was then not too far off target with a 30-yard shot just before half-time.

But the goals did not flow until the last five minutes once Darragh Maguire headed Rovers in front from Joseph Ndo's corner.

But Jorgensen levelled within two minutes when heading home after skipper John Fitzgerald flicked on a Seamus Conneally cross.
