Moyes sees Everton trail by two at the break
Everton 0 Portsmouth 2
Jermain Defoe’s predatory opener and another quality strike from Glen Johnson five minutes before the break put Portsmouth in control at half-time against Premier League rivals Everton.
Defoe collected a deft flick from partner Peter Crouch and engineered the space to rifle a low shot past Tim Howard in the 12th minute.
The former Tottenham forward then turned provider in the 40th minute when his exquisite pass allowed Johnson to saunter into the box unopposed and strike a low shot into the corner.
