England defender Micah Richards could make an immediate return to action in Manchester City’s crucial UEFA Cup qualifier against FC Midtjylland tomorrow despite being hospitalised with concussion on Sunday.

Richards was knocked out during City’s 3-0 Barclays Premier League win over West Ham after a clash of heads with team-mate Tal Ben Haim.

But manager Mark Hughes has revealed the defender is training and “should be okay” for the second qualifying round second leg, in which City must overturn a 1-0 first-leg deficit.

Summer signing Jo could make his debut after returning from Olympic duty with Brazil but Kelvin Etuhu and Benjani Mwaruwari are among those who have not made the trip.

Provisional squad: Hart, Schmeichel, Corluka, Kompany, Dunne, Richards, Onuoha, Ben Haim, Ball, Garrido, Fernandes, Hamann, Ireland, Johnson, Elano, Evans, Sturridge, Castillo, Caicedo, Jo.
