Lure of World Cup too strong for Finnan

Steve Finnan admits he ended his international retirement because he could not resist the lure of another World Cup finals tournament.

The 32-year-old Liverpool full-back was persuaded to return to the big stage by new Republic of Ireland boss Giovanni Trapattoni, who moved swiftly after his appointment to begin the process of enticing him back into the fold.
