Denis Behan, their cup-winning goal hero from last December, put Cork City through to the quarter-finals of the FAI Ford Cup.

Behan, whose goal beat Longford Town in last year's final, struck on 56 minutes to score with a close range volley at the back post from Danny Murphy's deep cross.

The result was harsh on Rovers who generallyhad the better possession and chances.

Rovers' winger Eoin Doyle brought the game to life on 20 minute when collecting Stephen Rice's pass to curl a right-foot shot past Mick Devine only to see it come back off a post.

Cork improved and forced Rovers keeper Barry Murphy into four saves, the pick of them from Behan, who won it with the game's only goal 12 minutes into the second half.
