Dinamo held by bottom-of-the-table Khimki

Dinamo Moscow missed a golden opportunity to go top of the Premier Liga as they were held 1-1 at struggling FC Khimki.

Khimki, who were bottom at the start of the day, looked set for another defeat when Igor Semshov struck for Dinamo in the 13th minute.

But Serhiy Pilipchuk levelled four minutes before half-time and neither side could find a winner.

The point took Khimki one place up the table, while Dinamo moved up to second, one point behind Rubin Kazan, who have one game in hand.

Spartak Moscow jumped above city rivals Lokomotiv into fourth with a 1-0 win at Tomsk.

The only goal of the game came courtesy of Malik Fathi in the 11th minute.

In the day’s other game, UEFA Cup champions Zenit St Petersburg came from behind to beat FC Moscow 2-1.

The visitors took the lead through Alexander Samedov (22) but Oleg Kuzmin’s 51st-minute own goal levelled matters and Fatih Tekke sealed the win for Zenit 13 minutes from time.

The win took Zenit to seventh, seven points behind the leaders in a congested Premier Liga table.
