Galway fall to four-goal Derry
Galway United 0 Derry City 4
Derry scored four times for the second time in a fortnight as they blew hapless Galway away within half an hour at Terryland Park.
A goalkeeping howler gifted Derry the lead after just five minutes.
Gareth McGlynn's low, speculative shot shouldn't have troubled Alvin Rouse, but the Galway keeper allowed the ball to squirm under his body and into the net.
Derry doubled their lead on 22 minutes when Mark Farren bundled the ball home from Niall McGinn's cross.
McGinn then got in on the scoring act when slotting home from Ciaran Martyn's pass on 29 minutes.
Martyn was involved again a minute later to set up Thomas Stewart to add the fourth.
