Kapo close to Bruce reunion

Olivier Kapo is on the verge of being re-united with his former boss Steve Bruce after Wigan were reported to have agreed a £3.5m fee with Birmingham for the forward.

Kapo is currently undergoing a medical at The JJB Stadium. He will become the Latics’ second signing of the summer following their capture of Birmingham winger Daniel De Ridder.

Latics boss Steve Bruce signed Kapo for £3m from Serie A giants Juventus last summer when he was manager of Birmingham City.

Birmingham boss Alex McLeish revealed earlier this week that he would not stand in Kapo’s way if the France international decided he wanted to leave the recently-relegated Championship side.

Marseille were also believed to be interested in the 6ft player who scored five goals for City last season.

The player’s agent, Willie McKay told www.skysports.com: “Olivier is currently undergoing a medical after Wigan agreed a fee with Birmingham.

“We are continuing talks over a possible three-year deal and we hope to have things concluded soon.”
