UCD look to end poor streak against Rovers
UCD host Shamrock Rovers in this evening's eircom League of Ireland Premier Division clash at the UCD Bowl, kick-off 7.45pm.
Defender Alan Mahon is UCD’s only concern as he picked up an Achilles injury in last week’s game against Drogheda and is rated as highly doubtful for the match on Friday.
UCD manager Pete Mahon said he was disappointed with last week’s result against Drogheda, feeling his side should have come out of the game with something for their efforts.
He said: "We were lacking up front but we have been all year.
"Drogheda didn’t have all that many chances either. We should have come out of that game with at least a draw."
"Rovers are six points ahead of us but they are not out of the mire yet.
"It’s been a long time since UCD beat Shamrock Rovers and it’s about time we put that right."
John Martin (hip) and Stephen Rice (thigh) are both sidelined for the Hoops, while Chris Mulhall and Robert Creevy are back training but unfit for first team duty.
Rovers boss Pat Scully said: “Stephen has a thigh strain that will keep him out for 7-10 days.
“Robert’s back training, while Chris is with the A team to ease him back to full fitness.
“Other than those four, everyone else is okay and that’s pretty good after the bad run of injuries we’ve had to endure for most of the season.”
