Sligo and Derry had to settle for a point apiece, but either side could have won a hugely entertaining scoreless draw at the Showgrounds.

Rovers' keeper Richard Brush was their saviour with saves early and late.

First Brush acrobatically tipped over from Kevin McHugh on 13 minutes before producing the save of the night on 80 minutes when diving full stretch to touch away Derry new boy Thomas Stewart's shot that looked destined for the top corner.

In between all the chances fell to Sligo with Benin international Romu Boco guilty of failing to take at least seven clear-cut openings.

The best of them came on 71 minutes when Boco got in behind the Derry defence from skipper Conor O'Grady's pass, but Gerard Doherty made a terrific save.

Impressive left winger Sean Doherty also brought a good save from Doherty while substitute Brian Cash shot wide as Sligo just couldn't find the net.
