Cobh slumped to a fourth home defeat on the spin as Sligo won for the first time in five league games.

Sean Doherty's third minute shot took a wicked deflection off Cobh skipper Alan Carey to loop past keeper James McCarthy and give Sligo the lead as early as the third minute.

Five minutes later McCarthy dived to his left to save a penalty from Rovers' Benin international Romuald Boco after a hand ball by Alan Kearney.

But Rovers doubled their lead a minute later when skipper Conor O'Grady threaded a pass through to Anto Murphy who shot past McCarthy from just inside the area.

Cobh responded and Carey rattled the Rovers' bar with a free-kick on 26 minutes.

Boco made amends for his first half penalty miss ten minutes into the second half when heading home Rafael Cretaro's corner to all but seal the win.

Kieran O'Reilly got Cobh's consolation goal on 79 minutes, punishing a slip by Rovers' defender Gavin Peers to shoot home.
