Kewell bags winner for Australia

Harry Kewell put a poor season with Liverpool behind him as he headed the only goal for Australia in their World Cup qualifier against Iraq in Brisbane.

The former Leeds forward, who is out of contract with the Reds at the end of this month and has recently been linked with a move to Celtic, headed in a cross from the right by Blackburn midfielder Brett Emerton two minutes into the second half.

The Socceroos almost conceded an equaliser late on and it took a fine stop from Mark Schwarzer – who recently joined Fulham from Middlesbrough – to keep out Hawar Mulla Mohammad.
