Figo: Mourinho heading to Inter

Inter Milan winger Luis Figo claims his club have already told him Jose Mourinho will be in charge of the Italian giants next season.

The former Chelsea coach was photographed meeting Inter president Massimo Moratti in Paris this morning as reports continue to suggest that he will soon be named as coach of the Serie A champions.

But Figo, whose relationship with former boss Roberto Mancini soured towards the end of his reign, claims he has already been told by his employers that Mourinho will be on the Inter bench next year.

“By now everyone knows that Mourinho is coming to Inter, the club have informed me of this too,” he told Portuguese newspaper 'O Jogo'.

“With the Nerazzurri, Mourinho can win the Champions League. However, I still haven’t spoken to him yet.”

The 35-year-old former Portugal international is now out of contract with Inter, and was believed to be looking for an exit from the San Siro.

However, the apparently-imminent appointment of his compatriot means Figo has now had a change of heart.

“Whenever there’s a change of coach hope always resurfaces for those who haven’t played very much,” he continued.

“I still don’t know where I’m going to play. My contract ends now in May, but I hope it’s at Inter.

“I’m thinking about staying on one more year.”

Mancini was sacked by Inter on Thursday.
