Trapattoni says "door is open" for Ireland to return to squad

Giovanni Trapattoni has left the door open for Stephen Ireland to return to international football despite leaving him out of his first Republic of Ireland squad for the international friendlies against Serbia and Colombia.

The new Irish boss is confident that the Manchester City midfielder will return to the squad but is giving him some breathing space.
