No worries for Wanderers, Shelley out for Drogs

In form Bray Wanderers entertain champions Drogheda United at the Carlisle Grounds tonight, kick-off 7.45pm.

Wanderers boss Eddie Gormley expects all his injured players to be fit for tonight’s clash.

Gavin Whelan, who was substituted at half-time last Friday with a back problem, will be given as much time as he needs to prove his fitness.

Gary McCabe resumed training and is expected to be given the all clear, as is Paddy Kavanagh who picked up a dead leg on Monday night’s win over Shamrock Rovers.

Paul Dunphy and goalkeeper Chris O'Connor both suffered ankle injuries on Monday but are almost certain to be included in the squad.

Derek Foran who missed out on Monday night with a groin strain will also be available.

Gormley said: "I was delighted to get the three points last Friday.

“We have played better but over the 90 minutes we probably deserved the three points.

“It’s another three points towards safety and if we keep working hard we will be ok.”

Drogheda are once again without PFAI player of the Year Brian Shelley, who is expected back in training next week, while keeper Dan Connor is also absent.

Shaun Maher has returned to full training, and awaits his Drogheda debut.

Joe Kendrick, Paul Keegan and Jason Gavin are all carrying slight knocks but should feature tonight.

United manager Paul Doolin has admitted that it will be tough as his side go in search of three points away to in-form Wanderers.

Doolin said: "Bray have done brilliantly, of course it will be tough.

“They've got some good results recently so we'll have to be at our best to best them.

“But we know we can. We need to keep picking up points and closing that gap at the top."
