Even though his side triumphed 3-0 at Fulham on Saturday, he decided to shuffle his pack in dramatic fashion.

Ferguson made no less than six changes with the game locked at 1-1 after the first leg and a place in the quarter-finals at stake.

Cristiano Ronaldo, Wayne Rooney, Nemanja Vidic, Anderson, Michael Carrick and Darren Fletcher all returned to the starting line-up.

Argentina striker Carlos Tevez, who scored a late equaliser in the first leg, had to settle for a place on the bench.
