Terry close to return

Chelsea captain John Terry believes he could be fit to return to action in the FA Cup fifth-round clash with Huddersfield next weekend.

The England defender has not played since suffering a foot injury during the Blues’ defeat to Arsenal in December, but the 27-year-old is confident he will be back soon.

Terry told Sky Sports: “I did a full training session with the reserves today and two light ones the two previous days with the first team.

“I joined in a little bit with the reserves and no reaction so far so I’m very pleased.

“Fitness-wise I’m probably a week to 10 days away. If I can get a good week’s training under my belt maybe the weekend is a small possibility I think.”

After their cup clash with the Terriers on Saturday, Avram Grant’s side take on Olympiacos in the Champions League a week on Tuesday and then face Tottenham in the Carling Cup final the following Sunday.
