Emotional scenes as Manchester remembers Munich tragedy

On an emotional day at Old Trafford, the names of every one of the 23 who died following the Munich air disaster were displayed around the pitch.

The team sheet numbered Manchester United’s men one to 16, but neither side had numbers today on their special commemorative shirts.

United were without the suspended Wayne Rooney and Patrice Evra, while Owen Hargreaves was dropped to the bench. John O’Shea, Nani and Anderson came into the side.

City had Vedran Corluka banned while Daniel Sturridge was also left out. New boy Benjani Mwaruwari made his debut while Nedum Onuoha came into defence.
