Keane makes last-ditch bid for Reid

Sunderland boss Roy Keane has made a late bid to sign Charlton midfielder Andy Reid.

Sunderland boss Roy Keane has made a late bid to sign Charlton midfielder Andy Reid.

It is understood the Black Cats have tabled an offer in the region of £4m for the 25-year-old Republic of Ireland international.

Reid joined the Addicks from Tottenham in a move which could have amounted to £3m in August 2006, and has made 23 appearances so far this season.

If Keane's move proves successful, it would be his fifth capture of the January transfer window.

Loan signing Jonny Evans, French youngster Jean-Yves Mvoto, Manchester United full-back Phil Bardsley and Sweden striker Rade Prica – who scored on his debut against Birmingham last night – have all moved to Wearside this month.
