Blake heaven for Wolves

Wolves have completed a £1.5m deal for Plymouth striker Sylvan Ebanks-Blake.

The Pilgrims were prepared to make Ebanks-Blake the best paid player in the club’s history before Wolves triggered a release clause in the 21-year-old’s contract with their offer.

The powerful forward joined Argyle from Manchester United for £300,000 in 2006 and had a year left to run on his contract.

Plymouth boss Paul Sturrock told the club’s official website, www.pafc.co.uk: “When Wolves indicated they were prepared to meet that £1.5m price, we were bound to allow Sylvan to talk to them and we could not ask Wolves for a bigger fee.

“That is the way of the modern system. Everything favours the player and his agent.”
